Kootu is a main dish in a south Indian food, Kothavarankkai is an interesting but comparatively less used vegetable as a kootu, I have tried a very similar recipe with Karamani too it came out superb.

Cooking time: 25 min ; serves: 4 people
Ingredients:
Thoor dhall - 1/2 cup
Channa dhall - 1 spoon
Half a tomato
Turmeric
Garlic - 2-3 pods
Oil
Pressure cook this and keep it aside
Vegetable:
Kothavarankkai (cut to small pieces )
Coconut - 1/2
Green chilly - 4-5
Jeera - 1 spoon
Ground paste1: Grind coconut, green chilly and jeera and keep the paste
Season:
Mustard seeds
Coriander leaves
Curry leaves
Jeera
Red chilly
Oil - 1 spoon
Ghee (optional)
Process:
Add Cluster beans in pressure cooker and add the ground paste 1 , pour a little amount of water and pressure cook
Once cooked, add salt
Now, add the dhall mixture steamed separately
Combine all of them and keep cooking
Once the gravy becomes thick, splutter the seasoning agents in a seperate vessel and add this to the kootu.
Add ghee if desired
Serve hot with rice and Vatha kolambu or konda kadala kolambu
